Vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies nationwide have faced many challenges in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, as they strive to support deaf individuals’ access to Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), vocational training and employment.

Now, VR staff and community rehabilitation providers (CRPs) can gather in an online discussion to share challenges and success stories. NDC is offering two live panels on two different dates to choose from. The content will be the same for each date; we ask individuals to register for only one date.

Panelists Include:

  • Bedarius Bell, State Coordinator of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services

  • Cathy Corrado, Transition Specialist, Washington Center for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Youth

  • Jimmy Mitchell, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services

  • Kathy Stoehr, State Coordinator Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Client Services Specialist, South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation

Panel Dates and Times

  • Tuesday, July 28: 2-3 p.m. CDT

  • Thursday, Aug. 6: 2-3 p.m. CDT

Note: webinar room will be open 5 minutes prior to start time

In order to attend this event you will need to:

  1. Register for one of the panel dates. A Zoom calendar invite will be emailed to you closer to the day of the panel.

  2. Download or update Zoom on your computer to the latest version.

  3. Sign in with a Zoom account. (The webinar link alone will not give you access to the live event, you must sign in to Zoom using a personal or work account. You can sign up for free at zoom.us)

Interpreters and real-time captioning will be provided for both panels. For additional access requests please email: help@nationaldeafcenter.org at least 3 business days prior to the event.

Tips for Zoom Access

  • Check with your IT department to grant access to Zoom if you have not used Zoom successfully in the past.

  • Use a laptop or desktop computer to optimize your view of the live panel.  However, if you do not have a computer, a tablet is preferable over using a smartphone.

  • If you use captions, a link will be provided to view captions on a separate window or device.
