A New Orleans native, Laura’s love of language took root in one of America’s most linguistically diverse cities. Laura taught for seven years in the departments of English and Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Texas before joining the National Deaf Center staff in 2017. Building on her years of experience as a researcher in UT Austin’s Digital Writing and Research Lab, Laura enjoys the complex challenges of designing and supporting accessible web-based learning environments. Laura holds a BA in literature, history, and classics and an MA in English literature from Tulane University, although she has never stopped collecting interesting facts, perspectives, and arguments. Outside of work, Laura, an engineer at heart, can usually be found breathing new life into once-broken things.
